Canada Red Chokecherry Prunus virginiana 'Shubert' Hardy, pyramidal tree. White flowers appear in April and May. Attractive, dense foliage emerges green then changes to red as the leaves mature and then turns reddish-purple in the fall. Flowers are followed by edible 1/3" fruit that can be used for jam, jelly, pies, sauce and wine. Fruit also attracts birds. Prefers good drainage and aerated conditions. Matures at 20-30'; 15-25' spread. (zone 2-6) Needs full sunlight. |
