Forest Pansy Redbud ('Forest Pansy') Cercis canadensis Irregular growth habit when young which develops into a graceful, flat topped, vase shaped tree with age. Purple-pink flowers appear before leaves in the spring. Brown seed pods appear after flowers. Foliage is heart shaped which starts a bright reddish-purple which fades to purple-green in the summer. Fall foliage is yellow. Prefers well drained, moist soils. Matures at 20-30'; 25-35' spread. (zone 5) Needs full to partial sunlight.
