Heritage® River Birch Betula nigra ('Cully') Vigorous, hardy tree with pyramidal habit when young maturing to a broad oval crown. Highly resistant to bronze birch borer. Large, glossy, green foliage turn light yellow in the fall. Creamy colored white bark that exfoliates, becoming mottled and interesting with age. Prefers moist, well-drained soils. Requires a fairly acidic pH. Cold hardy and adapts well to heat. Rapid growth once established. Matures 40-50'; 30-35' spread. (zone 4-8) Needs full sunlight. |
